James Alton Hale, 71, of Gainsville, Texas also known as Jimmy, Dad, Grandpa and Pawpaw passed away on July 17, 2020 at his home. He was born July 21, 1948 in Sherman, Texas to Alton Hale and Helen (Pryor) Hale.

Jimmy’s profession was painting houses.  He owned his own business until his motorcycle accident in 1982 at the young age of 34 which left his left side severely damaged.  This caused his left arm having to be amputated.  He had to relearn how to paint, tape and bed, run spray guns, climb ladders all with one hand.  The builders he worked for were amazed at how he could do the work with only one arm.  They would tell him he could do better work and work twice as fast with one hand than a lot of painters could do with two hands.  He loved working and took great pride in every job he did.

Before Jimmy’s accident he loved riding motorcycles, boating, snake hunting, riding horses, playing the guitar and raising chickens.  After his accident he spent most of his spare time working on old hot rods.  His favorite hotrod was his 68 Cougar that he put 14 motors in.  He also loved his rock and roll music.

He loved helping out all the kids and grandkids.  He very seldom ever told them no, unless his wife made him.  He loved them with all his heart and soul and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Jimmy is survived by his following family: Wife, Cynthia Hale of Gainesville, Texas; Sisters, Shirley Hale of Tyler, Texas; Kathy Murrell of Whitesboro, Texas; Daughters; Christy Hale of Kingston, Oklahoma, Amy Mauldin of Telephone, Texas, Daughter and son in law, Rachel and Jose Montoya of Gainesville, Texas; Daughter in law; Cindy Dale of Sherwood Shores, Texas; Sons, Jimmy Lynn Hale and Cody Hale, both of Gainesville, Texas; Son and daughter in law, James and Tammie Mauldin of Marietta, Oklahoma; Texas; Daughter in law; Samantha Mauldin of Gainesville, Texas; Aunt, Joyce Cooper of Whitesboro, Texas; Aunt, Esther Hale of Van Alystyne, Texas; Step Sons, Jason & Joey Crisp of Hondo, Texas; Grandchildren; Morgan Hale, Bryan Hale, Jacob Hale, Hailey Carriker, Hallie Sawyer, Nathaniel Mauldin, Destiny Mauldin, Caitey Sawyer, Kaden Smith, Skylar Mauldin, Natalie Montoya, Neveah Pence, Emily Montoya, Allie Montoya;  Blake, JJ and Jasmine Freeman.
