April 7, 1925 –  May 19, 2007  SADLER â?? Funeral Service for J.W. â??Dubâ? Carney, 82, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Carney officiating, interment will follow in Sadler Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 P.M. Monday, May 21, 2007 at the funeral home.
Mr. Carney passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.

Dub was born April 7, 1925 in Collinsville, Texas to Joe S. and Fannie (Gillium) Carney. He married Betty Haggard on April 22, 1944 in Durant, Oklahoma. Dub served in the United States Army, he was a WWII Veteran and a POW, and he received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his service in the military. He was a Christian and a member of Bones Chapel Baptist Church of Whitesboro, he loved to deer hunt and to play dominoes with his pals. Dub also served on the S and S consolidated Schools School Board.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Carney of Whitesboro; a son, Dennis Carney of Whitesboro; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; four sisters, Pearl Battaglia of Sherman, Edna Dodson of Sherman, Ruth Brookshear and husband Homer of Whitesboro and Paulette Pugh and husband John of Pottsboro.

He was preceded in death by a son, John Carney; a daughter, Marilyn Rollins; his parents, Joe and Fannie Carney; 2 brothers, Emmitt and Earl Carney.

Pallbearers are: Victor Smith, Jake Jones, Steve Mathis, Dennis Hutcherson, Mike Marr, Kim Smith and Kara Bridge.

His Dominoes pals will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made the charity of choice or you may make a donation to the Marilyn Rollins Scholarship Fund at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center, 500 N. Highland, Sherman, Texas 75092
