May 14, 1922 –  August 19, 2012  J.C. Flowers, Sr., 90, of Gainesville went home to be with his Lord on August 19, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton. He was born May 14, 1922 to Neal Flowers and Addie Mack in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. J.C. was a World War II veteran. He developed a relationship with the Lord and united with Old Mt. Olive Baptist Church under Rev. O.C. Ervin. He faithfully served the church for thirty-six years as deacon chairman.
A Celebration of Life for J.C. Flowers, Sr. will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25th at First United Methodist Church with pastors Frank Lorne, Ronny Phillips and Clyde Sherpell officiating. Services are under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m at First United Methodist Church.

He leaves to mourn, his loving wife of seventy years, Sammie, whom he adored; seven children, Donna Henry and her husband J.C. of Fort Worth, J.C. Flowers, Jr. of Gainesville, Evelyn Patton of Gainesville, Barbara Johnson of Lewisville, Billy Wayne Flowers, Sr. of Oak Ridge, Linda Carol Flowers of Gainesville, and Saundra Lakieta Goree of Fort Worth; sisters, Eddie M. Scott of Gainesville, Margretta Moore of Amarillo, Bobbie Rushing of Wynnewood and Betty Flowers of Wynnewood; brothers, Henry Flowers of Wynnewood and Wilkie Flowers of Wynnewood and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, T.C. Flowers, Ben T. Flowers and Shedrick Shankton and sister, Hazel Young.
