July 23, 1916 –  November 19, 2011  Whitesboro – Funeral services for Inda Mary Young, 95, will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Inda passed away peacefully at 12:45 P.M. in the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital – WNJ in sherman, Texas.
Inda was born on July 23, 1916 in Fife, Texas to Cecil J. and Carrie A. (Lucas) Ranne.
She leaves her son Glenn Young and Fiancé, Ruby of Whitesboro, Texas and son, Carl and wife, Rashonda of Ashdown, Arkansas.; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Larry Ranne of California and Roger Ranne of New Mexico; a sister, Jocille Tipton of Alabama.
Inda, began a teaching career at Deleware Bend, north of Dexter, Texas. It was while teaching school there she met her future husband, a local young man who lived near the school. Inda married Sidney D. Young in Durant, Oklahoma on June 26, 1941. Soon, her husband, Sidney was to serve his country and when in 1945 upon being discharged from the Army, Inda and Sidney settled in Pomona, California and raised their three boys, Glenn, Carl and Gene.
Inda’s career included teaching school in California, counseling women at the CRC Women’s Prison in Norco, California, and working in a local Pomona nursing home. she loved to sew and garden. Back home in Texas, Inda and her husband, opened a small boutique in Collinsville, where she sold handmade sewn items and an array of knick-knacks which kept her busy for many years. Inda was also a member of the Concord Church of Christ.
After 30 years in California, upon retiring, Inda and Sidney returned to Whitesboro, Texas where she lived until her death on Saturday.
Inda was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil J. and Carrie A. Ranne; her husband, Sidney and son, Gene Kent Young.
