August 6, 1942 – March 24, 2010 San Antonio,TX â?? Memorial Graveside Services for Hubert Wayne â??Tooterâ? Smart, 67, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro, with Rev. Rick Carney officiating. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. A family visitation will be held from 6 P.M. until 7 P.M. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the funeral home.
Tooter passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2010 at his home in San Antonio.
Tooter was born on August 6, 1942 in Whitesboro, Texas to Donald and Iona (Crenshaw) Smart. He grew up in Whitesboro and attended Whitesboro High School. Tooter joined the United States Navy and retired after 28 years of service. He married Michiko Utter in 2003 in California.
Survivors include his wife, Michiko Smart of San Antonio; 3 children, Don Smart of Oxnard, California; Michelle Larios of Oxnard, California and Martha Megis and husband Tim of Boise, Idaho; 7 Grandchildren; a sister, JoAnn Smart of Whitesboro and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Iona Smart; 2 brothers, Don Allen Smart and Dean Smart.
I worked with Herb for 10 years at the Port of Hueneme. He was a great guy, very loyal and would help anyone who needed it. He also had a great sense of humor.
You will be missed alot.
