November 11, 1925 –  December 28, 2013  Hubert Phillip Bezner of Dallas, Texas, born November 11, 1925 in Gainesville, Texas passed away at the age of 88 on December 28, 2013. He was a son of Joseph and Margaret Schmitz Bezner. Hubie graduated from Lindsay High School and attended St. Mary?s University in San Antonio, Texas prior to enlisting in the Naval Air Corps during World War II. He also served on active duty in the U.S. Naval Reserve Civil Engineering Corps during the Korean War. Hugh graduated from Texas Tech University with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1949 and was honored as a distinguished alumnus in 1980. He was employed by Exxon Company USA for 36 years and worked in many locations, both domestic and foreign. He retired from Exxon in Corpus Christi, Texas in April 1985 as their South Texas Division Drilling Manager.

He married Victoria Mary Kuntz on September 7, 1954 in St. Peters Church, Lindsay, Texas. They have one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Linda Bezner of Dallas, Texas and three daughters, Janet Bezner of Alexandria, VA, Sharon Bezner of Houston, Texas and Dolores and son-in-law Alan Hickam of Olive Branch, Mississippi. They have two granddaughters, Hallie Bezner and Carla Hickam, and two grandsons, Cole Bezner and Phillip Hickam. Mr. Bezner is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Zimmerer of Lindsay, Texas and Elsie Benenate of Farmers Branch, Texas and one brother, Joe Bezner of Lindsay, Texas. There are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William, Al, and Bob and sisters Cecilia Corcoran, Ann Cutaia Zamora, Albina Young, Isabel Galvan and Catherine Kelly.

Mr. Bezner was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church of Dallas, Texas, The Knights of Columbus and The Society of Petroleum Engineers. He was a Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Mass of Christian Burial for Hubert Phillip Bezner, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 2nd at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lindsay with Fr. Philip Petta officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Public viewing will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 1st in Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m.
