March 19, 1931 – January 23, 2009 SADLER รข?? Funeral Services for Howard Payne, 77, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Larry Blain, Rev. Keith Byrom and Ricky Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Sadler Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at the funeral home.
Howard passed away on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at the Whitesboro Health & Rehab. Center.
He was born on Mar. 19, 1931 in Sadler to John E. Payne and Edith (Mitcherson) Payne. Howard served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 -1952 and was a lumberman by profession. He married Joyce Byrom on Nov. 4, 1993 in Durant, OK and spent his last years in Sadler. Howard was a member of Southmayd Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Payne of Sadler, a son, James Payne of Sherman, 2 step-sons, Fred Thomas of Canyon Lake and Randy Thomas of Collinsville, 2 step-daughters, Sharon Lively of Whitesboro and Rebecca Shelby of Denison, 2 sisters, Elizabeth Filip of Sadler and Martha Dicken of Whitesboro and a brother in law, T.W. Byrom of Collinsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Edith Payne; son, John C. Payne and a sister, Betty Breedlove.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Eldridge, Bobby Himsley, Ralph Terry, Don Davis, Jim Malone and Joe Eldridge.
