December 27, 1924 –  August 28, 2007  Whitesboro—Funeral services for Howard A. LaQuey, 82, will be held at 10.00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2007 at Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro.Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 P.M. Thursday, August 30, 2007 at the funeral home.

Howard passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
Howard was born on December 27, 1924 in Comanche, Oklahoma to T.H. and Olie Mae [Poteet] LaQuey.
He married Oleta Shannon on January 5th, 1945, at the First Assembly of God, in Duncan, Oklahoma. Oleta preceded him in death on December 20th, 1994.

Howard served in the Army-Air Force during World War II. Howard worked as a self employed Building Contractor. He later married Gwen Switzer, March 6th, 1998 at Southmayd Baptist Church.

Howard loved camping and fishing, and his camping trips to Colorado.
He was a member of Good Sams and North Texas Good Sams camping club.

He was a member of North Hills Baptist Church in Whitesboro.
Howard is survived by his wife Gwen LaQuey of Whitesboro; son Phil LaQuey and wife Terri of Whitesboro, daughter Shannon Maynard and husband Kevin of Whitesboro; step daughter Sherry Muir and husband Richard of Sanger, step sons Billy Roy Switzer and wife June of Denton, Chet Switzer and wife Betty Lou of Gainesville; one brother Ronny Max Laquey and wife Virginia of Duncan, Oklahoma; one sister Pat Stephens of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Granddaughter, Jennifer Maynard of Whitesboro, 2 grandsons, Jasper Maynard of Whitesboro, and Burk Morphew and wife Misty; 6 step grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents T.H. and Olie Mae LaQuey, and 2 brothers, Joe and Melvin LaQuey, and one infant sister, Wanda LaQuey.

Pallbearers will be nephews, and honorary pallbearers will be the
members of Tag-alongs Sams and North Texas Good Samâ??s Camping Clubs.

Donations may be made to North Hills Baptist Church or Grayson Home Hospice.
