Helen Ruth French Kite, 90, passed away on March 26, 2023.

She was born in Daingerfield, Texas, on November 23, 1932, to Dorothy King French and to James Hilliard French III. She married Delbert Lee (“D.L.”) Kite of Midland on March 22, 1953. Her adored husband, her beloved parents Dorothy and Joe Ben Fleming of Paris, and precious daughter Dellen Kite Gibson preceded her in death.

After growing up in Emory and residing for several years in Key West, Florida, where she loved singing the soprano lead in school operettas, she graduated with honors from Greenville High School. She received her Associate of Arts degree from Paris Junior College, where she thrived on the newspaper staff. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Sul Ross State University in 1976 and a master’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. She owned her own real estate company as a young woman and later taught for years in public schools. She strongly supported her husband as he served as an economic missionary along the Texas-Mexico border. “NaNa” particularly loved attending the performances and sporting activities of her numerous grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching movies with family, scribbling fiction manuscripts, singing in church choirs, and attending Sunday school.

She is survived by daughters Leeza Lyn Pointer of Cleburne, Noressa Lea Carson of Spring, and Jodella Dorothea Dyreson of Alexandria, Pennsylvania; brother and sister-in-law Jerry Joe and Brenda Fleming of Paris; and numerous grandchildren as well as great-grandchildren, nieces, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

A service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Fairview Cemetery, Gainesville, at 2:00 p.m. Virtual condolences to the family may be left at https://meadorfuneral.com/helen-ruth-kite/.
