Kay Batts, 73, of Whitesboro, Texas, formerly of Joaquin, Texas, was called to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at her home in Whitesboro.

Kay was born on March 19, 1948 in Deadwood, Texas to A.D. and Emma (Butler) Martin.  She married the love of her life Robert Wayne Batts on September 9, 1967 in Deadwood, Texas and they were married for 35 years prior to his passing.  Kay and Wayne met while she was attending Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, after she graduated with her degree in accounting, they worked side by side for the next 35 years.  She loved her alma mater and was a proud SFA mom as all 4 of her daughters attended SFA as well.  Kay was born and raised a Baptist, but recently she had converted to Catholicism.  She moved to Whitesboro from Joaquin, Texas to be closer to her daughters and her grandchildren.  Kay was a loving wife and mother and loved being with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Lyn Batts of Whitesboro; Mallory Schares and husband, Trey of Whitesboro; Robbie Batts of Whitesboro; Susan Gates of Iowa; granddaughter, Sadie Schares of Whitesboro; grandson, Joel Williams of Iowa; brother, David Tracy Martin of Longview; sister-in-law, Lenora Jean Walton of Center, TX.; brother-in-law, John Mark Batts of Joaquin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Batts, parents, A.D. and Emma Martin, sister, Andrea Jean Marshall Stewart, mother and father-in-law, Robert and Marlene Batts, and brother-in-law, David Batts.

A funeral mass honoring Kay will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 17, 2021 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Sherman.  A secondary funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Watson and Son’s Funeral Home in Center, Texas. Interment will follow at Panola Baptist Cemetery in Deadwood, Texas.
