February 13, 1927 –  October 29, 2011  WHITESBORO – Funeral Services for Rev. Harold H. Watson, 84, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating, assisted by Rev. Rick Carney, Rev. Joe Howard, Rev. Dewey Watson and Rev. Jimmy Hedges. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
He passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital – WNJ in Sherman.

Harold Houston Watson was born on Feb. 13, 1927 in Mansfield, TX to DeWitt Clinton and Ollie Mae (Fowler) Watson. He grew up near Arlington, Texas. After serving in the Merchant Marines, he was discharged from the U.S. Army. He attended college at Hardin-Simmons University. He married Georgia Thompson on March 16, 1946. They had a precious daughter, Theresa Joy, who lived 20 minutes and God called her home. The Lord then blessed their home with three more children: Cindy, Joe, and Tishira. Georgia went home to be with the Lord on September 9, 2002. Bro. Watson married Tammy DeWitt on February 14, 2003. She went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2003 while in Key West, Florida. On January 15, 2005, he married Carol Ann Paschen. What a blessing, sweet Carol, has been to him. Bro. Watson loved his family and friends, especially when they had the opportunity to eat out. He loved farming and working with cattle. He enjoyed bird hunting. His favorite sports teams were the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Longhorns. Rev. Watson was also a member of Whitesboro Masonic Lodge #263 A.F. & A.M.

Rev. Harold Watson was active in the ministry of our Lord for 57 years. He shepherded churches in Verden, OK; Peacock, TX; Clyde, TX; Healdton , OK; Whitesboro, TX; and Southmayd, TX; as well as serving as the Pastor Emeritus for First Baptist Church of Whitesboro. He served as the moderator for the Grayson Baptist Association and on the Annuity Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He was a founder of the North Texas Easter Retreat at the Falls Creek Baptist Encampment in Davis, Oklahoma. He was named as one of the top ten Rural Pastors in North America.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Watson of Gainesville; a son, Joe Watson and wife, Melinda, of Whitewright; 2 daughters, Cindy Jordan and husband, Stan, of Lewisville and Tishira Brown of Whitesboro; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a step-son, Mike Freytag; a step-daughter, Jana Sudderth; 5 step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; and niece, Glenda Hicks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt and Ollie Watson; his wife, Georgia Watson; and their daughter, Theresa Joy Watson; his grand-daughter, Tracy Jeanette Jordan; his sister, Joy Ann Pike; and his wife, Tammy Watson.
