Geraldine Agnes Jane “Gerrie” Burr was called to her eternal home on Monday, August 9, 2021.
Gerrie was born on November 24, 1956 in Muenster, Texas to Albert and Frances Elizabeth (Sprengel) Knabe. She was a wife, mom, daughter, sister, Nana, and friend. But we called her mom. She was always only a phone call away and always had an open ear, a shoulder to cry on, or just great advice. Gerrie was a beautiful caring soul who loved fiercely and followed Jesus with a passion. Mom and Dad always had a special kind of love that was always on display and a great picture of what a husband and wife should look like. All that were touched by her will always have a hole in their lives now that she is not physically here with us, but we are all changed by the way she touched each of our lives. We know we will meet again one day and dance together worshipping our great Lord and Savior, but until that day comes, we will try to live and love by the great example she set. We love you Mom!
God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So, He put His arms around you and whispered, “Come to me.” A golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
She leaves behind her husband of 46 years, Douglas Burr of Whitesboro; son, Phillip Burr and wife, Kristin of Corinth; daughter, Michelle Burr and significant other, Justin Schaffner of Little Elm; grandchildren, Isabella Gonzales, Cassandra Gonzales, Dominick Gonzales, Hailey Burr, Sydney Burr, P.J. Burr, and Cason Burr; siblings, Margie Starke, Betty Gibbs, Andy Knabe, Henry Knabe, Eddie Knabe and Clara Lutkenhaus, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Gerrie was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Frances Knabe, sisters, Mary Kennedy and Roseann Knabe and brother, Augie Knabe.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gerrie Burr Benefit at Legend Bank of Whitesboro.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.
I’ve been around Gerrie a handful of times and you could tell how much she loved her friends and family. She was such a sweet lady. The Burr family is in my prayers??
Michelle, you and your family are in my prayers. May God comfort you all during this time. Love-Haley Smith
We are just heartbroken on the loss of our classmate and good friend, Gerrie. The girls in our monthly get-together are going to miss her smiling face and wonderful laugh, and it will never be quite the same. Sending much love, prayers and thoughts to Doug, Phillip, Michelle, her grandchildren and the rest of her family. God bless you all and bring you comfort and peace. Rest well, dear friend, until we meet with you again.
I am so sorry to hear of your great loss! Gerrie was a classmate of mine and a dear old friend. May she Rest In Peace, and may Jesus wrap his loving arms around you all and hold you, until you are able to stand alone once again. Love and prayers going up.
