October 12, 1947 –  November 2, 2007  Dr. Gene Hetsel 60, of Gainesville, went home to be with the Lord, Friday November 2nd, 2007 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Forth Worth Texas.

Family visitation will be at 1:00 PM with funeral services following at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 5th at the Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro Texas. Dr. David Conway of Southeastern Oklahoma State University will officiate the service accompanied by Dr. Stanley Alluisi also of SOSU. Internment will be at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Collinsville Texas.

Gene Hetsel was the son of Ralph and Loretta Hetsel of Eldon Missouri. He was born on October, 12th, 1947 in Wichita Kansas.

Gene Hetsel was a scholar and gentleman having earned his Doctoral degree from the University of North Texas in 1997. As a teacher Dr. Hetsel spent his life in the pursuit of educating others first at North Central Texas College in Gainesville and then later at South Eastern Oklahoma State University as an aviation instructor and full professor.

He was preceded in death by his father Ralph Hetsel.

He is survived by Diane Hetsel his soul mate and wife of 14 years, the oldest child of John and Wanda Overstreet of Collinsville. He is survived by his mother Loretta Hetsel of Gunter Texas. He is also survived by one step son Kenyon Kemp of Collinsville, his wife April, and their son Austin.
