April 29, 1947 –  March 31, 2013  WHITESBORO ? Memorial services for Gary Lynn Garrison, 65, will be held Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 2:00 ? 5:00 p.m. at the family home in Whitesboro, Texas. This will be a casual, outdoor Celebration of Life. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas.Gary was born on April 29, 1947 to William Harvey and Joy Laverne (Peltier) Garrison in Purcell, Oklahoma. He passed away on March 31, 2013 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. He married Brenda Helvey-Bowling on July 17, 1993 in Sherwood Shores, Texas. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1965-1971. He retired from GTE/Verizon in 1995 with 25 years of service. Gary was a member of the Communications Workers of America, Local 6171, as well as a member of the Citizen Band Potawatomi Tribe of Shawnee, Oklahoma. One of Gary?s main passions, which began before he retired, was the restoration of a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner; his first vehicle. For all his hard work, he was awarded many trophies at various car shows. Gary not only enjoyed working on his cars, but also enjoyed spending time with his family as well as taking care of his horse and many stray animals that he had taken in over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Garrison, of Whitesboro, TX; daughter, Carolynn Garrison-Pando and husband, Eric, of Dallas, TX; son, William Scott Garrison, of La Mesa, TX; step-son, Joshua Bowling and wife, Ashley, of Whitesboro, TX; step-daughter, Chanda Bowling-Hyatt and husband, Jeremy, of Pottsboro, TX; two grandchildren; sisters: Joy Woodhull and husband, Bill, of Southlake, TX; and Vickie Truelove and husband, Tom, of Keller, TX; and brothers: Harold Garrison, of Whitesboro, TX; and Monty Garrison, of Gordonville, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Joy Garrison.
