May 20, 1928 –  November 23, 2014  Gainesville resident, Fred Ray “Scotty” Scott passed away at his residence Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the age of eighty-six. He was born in Maysville, Oklahoma May 20, 1928 to Fred and Sallie (Randolph) Scott. Scotty moved to the Cooke County area in the late 1940’s and married Anna Belle Wilson September 11, 1966. He was a telegrapher for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring after 47 years and lived 24 years after retirement . Mr. Scott was a member of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, listening to classical music and his cat, Miss Kitty.Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 25th at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Don Yeager officiating. Rick Morrell, Scott DeYoung, Scotty Kelley, Michael Black, Bobby Balthrop and Bobby Wells will serve as pallbearers. Family visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at Meador Funeral Home in Gainesville.
Fred Ray Scott is survived by a daughter, Sheila Morrell; son-in-law, Richard Morrell, grand-daughter, Raetta DeYoung, grandson-in-law, Scott DeYoung; grandson, Michael Black; and six great-grandchildren including Fred Ray Scott Kelley, his namesake,. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
