October 6, 1928 – February 23, 2013 Gainesville resident Fred Henry Pruitt, 84, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013 at North Texas Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 27th at Meador-Clement-Keel Chapel with Rev. Jordan Johnson, Pastor of Harvey Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Dave Pruitt, Tyler Pruitt, Sgt. Mike Boyd, Brandon Hull, Justin Hull and Clinton Hull will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Fred was born to John William Pruitt and Eunice M. Meyer Pruitt October 6, 1928 in Gainesville, Texas. He married Joye M. Neathery August 19, 1950 in Denton, Texas. Fred served his country during the Korean War with the US Air Force. He had been self employed in the transportation industry for the past thirty-nine years. Mr. Pruitt was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Surviving Fred Pruitt are his wife of sixty-two years, Joye Pruitt of Gainesville; sons, Monty Pruitt and wife, Georgia of Gainesville, David Pruitt and wife, Gayle of Whitesboro and Timothy Pruitt of Fort Worth; ten grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; sisters, Sue Turner and husband John of Gainesville and Lou Townsend and husband, Peter of Mobile, Alabama and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, June Melton and grandson, Barry Pruitt.
