Frances Jean Wyatt Townsley, 98, of Gainesville, Texas passed away on December 24, 2024. A lifelong Texan, she was born to Finley Walter Wyatt and Nola Frances Lynch Wyatt in Gainesville on June 7, 1926. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1944, then attended North Texas Teachers College for Women. Frances married Horace Lee Townsley on July 12, 1947.
Frances and Horace lived in Metro Dallas after marriage; both had careers in the aerospace industry. After retirement, they enjoyed extensive international travel, everywhere from Alaska to Japan and most of Europe. Later in life, Frances and Horace chose to live in the same Colorado town as her brother, F. W. (1st time for that since before the War), where they fully enjoyed all the Rocky Mountain atmosphere had to offer, including spectacular sunsets from their balcony every night.
Frances will always be remembered for her Italian cream birthday cakes. She liked the intellectual stimulation of bridge and competed in several states in tournaments growing her Masters Points. Their final home together was the pleasant community of Lake Kiowa in a house on the lake.
She is survived by her nieces, Alice Frances Wyatt Stephens (Tom), and Suzanne Bloodworth Crutsinger (Glenn). She was preceded in death by her parents, Finley Walter Wyatt and Nola Frances Lynch Wyatt, husband, Horace Lee Townsley and brother F. W. Wyatt.
A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
