April 30, 1922 –  June 6, 2015  Gainesville resident, Evelyn Leona Bays, 93, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Pecan Tree Health and Rehab Center. She was born April 30, 1922 in Mt. Clements, Michigan to Frank and Helena (Ratzow) Schankia. Evelyn served in the Women’s Army Corps during WWII. She had worked at Gainesville Memorial Hospital and was a homemaker. Evelyn was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Grady and Rosemary Bays of Gainesville; sister, Clara Pruitt of Michigan and granddaughter, Stephanie Bays. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl G. Bays; one brother, one sister and her parents.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home, Gainesville. No services are planned at this time.
