February 8, 1943 –  March 4, 2017  Gainesville resident Douglas Roy Southerland, 74, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at North Texas Medical Center. He was born February 8, 1943 in Marietta, Oklahoma, to H.T. and Jessie Oleta (Giles) Southerland. Douglas married Lisa Sanders April 2, 1993. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and had worked for Weber Aircraft. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
A Memorial Service will be held at a date to be announced later. Cremation is under the direction of Meador Funeral Home, Gainesville

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Southerland of Gainesville; son, Michael Greh of Gainesville, brothers and their wives, Jim and Penny Southerland of Lake Kiowa and John and Glenda Southerland of Walnut Bend; sisters, Cora Mayes of Gainesville and Stella Holland of Gainesville; numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Leda Sanders of Gainesville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
