July 21, 1948 –  February 8, 2017  GORDONVILLE- A Celebration of Life Service for Douglas Belmont Burkhart, 68, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2017 at Willis Baptist Church in Willis, Oklahoma with Rev. Jerry Scott officiating. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro. Mr. Burkhart passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his home in Gordonville. Douglas was born on July 21, 1948 in McKinney, Texas to Dowgar Belmont and Ruth Evaletta (Skemp) Burkhart. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict. He married Monica Baker on April 15, 2000 in Denton, Texas. Douglas was a member of Willis Baptist Church in Willis, Oklahoma, and was an avid reader, with the Bible being his favorite. He enjoyed fishing and playing games such as Skipbo, Phase 10 and Dominoes. Douglas was a big sports enthusiast and loved animals. Survivors include his wife, Monica Burkhart of Gordonville; two daughters, Pam Northam and husband, Ken of Denton and Belinda Martinez and fiancée Joel Symore of Houston; a son, James Burkhart and wife, Christy of Abilene and grandchildren, Marsha, Jessica, Mariah and Emalie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dowgar and Ruth Burkhart.
