July 28, 1927 –  January 3, 2011  COLLINSVILLE – Funeral services for Dorothy Cleo Cox, 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Pastor Mark Jones and Pastor Matt Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Collinsville, Texas. Family visitation will be held Wednesday, January 5, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. All services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home.Cleo Cox passed away on January 3, 2011 in Denton, Texas.
She was born on July 28, 1927 to James Harry and Ella (Shelton) Anderson in Carrollton, Texas. She married Edward Cox on April 20, 1946 in Carrollton, Texas. She was a member of the New Life Worship Center in Pilot Point, Texas. She was known to be a writer to her family and friends, keeping a journal every day of her life since she was thirteen, and writing poetry. She wrote a poem about every one of her children and grandchildren. She also wrote a poem about the school she attended which is displayed in Dallas. She had a song which was published. She loved chimes, dolls, working circle-word puzzles and keeping track of the weather, which she recorded daily.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Matthews of Collinsville, TX; Robin Eddington and husband, Alvin, of Callisburg, TX; and Tammy Henderson and husband, Steve, of Collinsville, TX; her grandchildren, Talitha York, Edward Matthews, Mocha Wohlgemuth, Jamie Lail, John Knight, Stephanie Acosta, and Cindi Henderson; her great-grandchildren, Travis York, Morgan York, Shelby Lail, Claudia Lail, Brent Lail, and Sam Lail; Liberty Knight, Johnny Knight, Marcus McDavid, Talyiha McDavid, and Asayah McDavid, Chloe Acosta, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Cox; her parents, James and Ella Anderson; and a son-in-law, Mickey Matthews.
The pallbearers will be Lesley York, Troy York, Michael York, Travis York, Billy Ridinger, Charles Cox, Joe Romero, and Ricky Cox.
