August 4, 1931 – July 19, 2016 GODLEY- Funeral Services for Donald Dale Spencer, 84, of Godley, Texas, will be held Friday, July 22, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Underwood officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Whitesboro, Texas. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday, July 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. He passed away July 17, 2016, at Burleson, Texas with his family by his side.He was born to Albert Robert and Gladys Ivy (McKenzie) Spencer on August 4, 1931, at Delaware Bend, Texas. As a young boy, he took any odd job he could find. In the early ‘50’s, he started building residential houses in Ft. Worth and in the late ‘60’s, built nursing homes in Mineral Wells, and throughout Texas, Mississippi and Arkansas. Before his death, he built, owned and operated Royal Manor Health Center and Royal Manor II in Waco, Texas. He gave one hundred per cent to every venture and would never accept defeat. He was a Master Mason since 1956, and was a member at Ridglea Lodge #134. In 1996, he relocated to Godley Texas, and started a cattle ranch that remains in operation today. Don loved his family and grandkids, as well as, a good game of dominoes. If you won, it was because he let you.
He is survived by his sons, Scott Spencer of Godley, TX, Gary Underwood and his wife, Linda of Weatherford, TX; daughter, Vicki Randall and her husband, Charles of Weatherford, TX; 9 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers, Larry Riddle and his wife, Carol of Denison and J.W. Spencer of Plano, TX; sisters, Sue Alcorn and her husband, Mickey of Pattonville, TX and Glenda Manning and husband, Ron of Alexander City, Alabama.
