November 5, 1950 –  February 14, 2015  SADLER – Funeral services for Dennis W. McCray, 64 will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the Meador Funeral Home Chapel at Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating. Interment will follow the services at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Sandusky. All service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home. There will be a visitation service at the funeral home, from 1 – 2 p.m., prior to the funeral service on February 17.He died February 14, 2015 in Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center in Sherman, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones.
Dennis was born on November 5, 1950 to C. L. McCray and Alma (McBride) McCray in Sherman, Texas. He married Lue Griffin on July 2, 1971 in Sadler, Texas. He was a member of the Sadler Methodist Church. He was a longtime Dallas Cowboys fan. He had refereed for basketball games. He loved his family fantasy football team. He was an avid domino player and could play for hours and hours. He was also an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He bragged about them whenever he got the chance.
He is survived by his wife, Lue McCray, of Sadler; son, Lewis McCray and wife, Jennifer, of Friendswood; daughter, Gyn Welch and husband, Chad, of Sadler; and four grandchildren: Taite and Paige McCray; Olivia and Emilia Welch.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Aubrey Kate Welch; and brothers: Donnie McCray, Johnny McCray, and Douglas “Pete” McCray.
