August 22, 1916 –  November 25, 2010  Funeral services for David â??Woodyâ? Adkins will be 1 p.m. Monday, November 29th at Clement-Keel Chapel with Pastor David Hart, Baptist minister officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery. Grandson Craig Adkins, grandsons-in-law, Daren Hutcherson, Greg Hart, Nate Cook, Tim Klement and Sid Campbell will serve as pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be Mike Earhart, Dane Coker, Scott Johnson, Wayne Kyle and Bill Cox. No visitation is planned.
David â??Woodyâ? Adkins, 94, passed away November 25, 2010 at Pecan Tree Health and Rehab Center. He was born August 22, 1916 in Era, Texas to Elijah B. and Martha (Jones) Adkins. Woody served his country in the Army Air Corp. He married Bernice Pauline Cox September 5, 1942. He worked for Virgil Taylor Drilling Company as a pumper for thirty six years before retiring.

Survivors of Woody Adkins include his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Peggy Adkins of Denton; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Larry Partain of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Peggy Adkins of Gainesville; niece Barbara Hutson of Saint Jo; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice Cox Adkins; daughter, Linda Adkins; great-grandson, William Prettyman; great-granddaughter, Jodi Culwell; twin brother, Derow Adkins and sister, Bonnie Adkins.
