Charles Wayne Jetton, born into this life on February 18, 1934 changed his address to Heaven on April 4, 2023.  Charles Wayne Jetton was born in Gainesville, Cooke County, Texas to Robert Lee Jetton and Willie Faye Weatherley Jetton.

Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Wayne Jetton; his parents, Robert Lee and Willie Faye Jetton and his sister, Dorris Sumners; his brothers, Dale, Raymond and Jerry Lee Jetton.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lois Sparks Jetton of Corinth; daughter, Kathy Lynn Bertrand (John) of Dallas; four grandchildren, Tamala Walls (Jason) of Oklahoma; Ryan Bertrand (Amy), Lauren Kester (Brian) and Caitlin “Cate” Bertrand of Dallas; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Wayne was a graduate of Gainesville High School, where he was involved in more than one music program, including opera and country music.  At age 16, he was writing country music songs, including making two recordings during the rockabilly era of music that preceded Rock and Roll.  Wayne sang on the Gainesville radio station and made radio commercials for various Gainesville merchants.  Wayne then graduated from Austin College, Sherman, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a minor in music.

In the summer of 1957, Wayne enlisted in the United States Air Force before he could be drafted into military service.  He became a crypto specialist and interpreted coded messages.  During his years of service, he was stationed in Saudi Arabia and then at Fort Knox, Kentucky.  He completed his military service in the fall of 1961.

Wayne worked for Texas Instruments as a Professional Engineer for 26 years before retirement.  After retirement, Wayne worked several years seasonally as a tax preparer for H & R Block in Denton, Texas.

Throughout life, Wayne served the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart and many talents.  He served as a song writer, choir director, praise and worship leader, Bible teacher, and pastor.  He sang in several Southern Gospel Quartets.  Wayne’s last quartet group was “The Jetton Singers” and together they recorded two albums.

Wayne was a man full of many talents.  His enduring passions in life were the Word of God and music.  Music was every fiber of his life.  Up until his last days and hours, music was integral to his very being.  When music was played for him, he lifted his hands in worship.

Wayne chose to be laid to rest near his parents in New Resthaven Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas.
