February 16, 1935 –  February 18, 2018  Whitesboro – Funeral Services for Charles Melton Swindle, 83, of Collinsville, Texas will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Meador Funeral Home Chapel, Whitesboro, officiated by Ricky Patterson and assisted by Scott Sides. Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Charles passed away February 18, 2018 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
He was born in Collinsville on February 16, 1935 to Jim and Marie (Battenfield) Swindle. Charles served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959, during that time he served aboard the USS Yorktown as an aviation electrician’s mate. He married Mary Ann Carney on July 10, 1964 in Collinsville. Charles was a lifelong farmer and rancher who loved to hunt. He was a man who enjoyed talking to people and getting to know them, he was able to put this to use by going to Poor Boys Café and having coffee with the “Coffee Crew”. He loved his time spent with his cows and his dogs Gus and Lori.
Charles is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Swindle of Collinsville, son, Brian Scott Swindle and wife, Lanette of Collinsville, son, Charles Brent Swindle and wife, Beverly of Collinsville, grandchildren, Brentney DiPrato and husband,Tyler of Austin, Brooke Swindle of Austin, Daniel Swindle of Collinsville, Lily-Marie Swindle of Collinsville, Erik Swindle of Collinsville, and brother, Don Swindle and wife, Shirley of Collinsville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Grady Carney, Ricky Carney, Randy Carney, Rusty Carney, Danny Bates, and Shane Harville. Honorary pallbearers will be The Poor Boys Café Coffee Crew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Marie Swindle and one sister, Jimmie Cooley,
