April 4, 1930 –  July 21, 2014  WHITESBORO – Funeral services for Charles “Homer” Brookshear, 84, will be held on July 23, 2014, at 10 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Ken Hildebrand officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. All services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home. Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.He passed away on July 21 at his residence in Whitesboro, Texas.
Homer was born on April 4, 1930 in Grayson County, Texas to Lewis Carmen Brookshear and Ruth (Bohrer) Brookshear. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro, Texas. He owned and operated Brookshear Real Estate and was a volunteer firefighter. He was also a 32 degree Mason. He loved gardening and was a very good gardener. He played the fiddle. He was known by his grandchildren as “Pap.”
He survived by his wife, Ruth Brookshear of Whitesboro; daughter, Teresa Stopher and husband, Robert, Gainesville; his daughter, Debra Blagg and husband, Danny, of Denton; five grandchildren: Shellie Mahboub, Brian Pinkston, Jonathan Cole, Stacey Nemanic, and Mackenzie Blagg; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and his sister, Patsy Tuley of Whitesboro, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen and Ruth Brookshear; his brothers: L. C. Brookshear, Jim Brookshear, Joe Brookshear, and Tom Brookshear; and granddaughter, Crystal Pinkston.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be L. V. and Melba Phelps, Claude and Lowaine Crook, Don and Diane Chambers, and Bob and Joretta Garvin.
