January 9, 1941 –  July 24, 2015  WHITESBORO-Charles Clay “Charlie” Williams was born on January 9, 1941, in Whitesboro, Texas, to Clay Charles “Doc” and Neva Katherine (Short) Williams. Charlie met the love of his life in the fall of 1963, Linda Moore Williams. Linda traveled across Texas to meet her prince charming, Charlie. It was love at first sight. She was waiting tables at the Roper Restaurant and the first time Charlie walked through the door, she told the owner of the restaurant, Booty Riddle, “That is the man I am going to marry.” Booty replied, “If you do, you will get a great young man!”Charlie graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1959, and received a BS in Business from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He served in the Army Reserve for seven years. He worked with his family in the auto and cattle business before going to work at Security National Bank in February of 1971, where he built many lasting relationships with his customers and co-workers. Charlie had a great love of Oklahoma and whenever they could, he and Linda traveled all over the state. Charlie was a member of First Baptist Church, Whitesboro, for over 60 years. He was a nursery worker at First United Methodist Church, Whitesboro for many years. He loved to travel and had a passion for cars. He could do any type of mechanic work and passed his gift of mechanics to his son, Jeff and grandson, Curtis.
For those of you who knew Charlie, you know by his example that he loved his Lord and family. He lived every day of his life as a testament to his Father. He was honest and never, ever comprised his integrity. He felt so blessed to have great children, wonderful grandchildren and a son and daughter-in-law that he loved as his own son and daughter. He always made sure his family had what they needed and he told them all the time how much he loved them.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Moore Williams; son, Jeffrey Clay Williams and wife, Lynn of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter, Allyson Dae Williams Russell and husband, Donald “D.W.” of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Darci Lynn Williams Bowen and husband, Derek of Silo, Oklahoma; Curtis Clay Williams of Durant, Oklahoma; Carson Clay Russell, Nealee Dae Russell of Whitesboro and Kaylie Russell of Whitesboro; sister, Katherine Williams Morgan and husband, Weldon of Whitesboro; nephew, John Williams Morgan and wife, Donna of Sadler, Texas; brother-in-law Eddie Moore and wife, Shirley Gayle Mayo of Tyler, Texas; sister-in-law, Shirley Moore Hough and son, Jason of Whitesboro as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
