September 8, 1928 –  April 12, 2012  WINNSBORO â?? Long-time resident of Carrollton, Charles B. Green, Jr. was born September 8, 1928 in Collinsville, Texas to the late Charles B. Green, Sr. and Ada Lee Green. Charles went to work for the General Electric Company in 1946 when he was 18 years old. After working at the G. E. shop on Manor Way in Dallas for 13 years as their sales engineer, he was transferred to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1959 as the Shop Manager of G. E. He was in Salt Lake three years before being transferred to Phoenix, Arizona as Supervisor of Dallas Operations. After spending three years in Phoenix, he asked to be transferred back to the Dallas service shop on Manor Way where he was the technical supervisor and sales engineer of the draglines in the East Texas area. He also spent time in Schenectady and Albany, New York annually teaching different courses on large motors and generators. He also spent numerous hours in St. Louis, Missouri as well as New York City inspecting DC motors and generators. One of his other assignments was working on and inspecting aircraft generators in Duncan, Oklahoma. After giving General Electric 42 years of his service, he retired in 1989 at the age of 60.Soon after his retirement with G. E., Caldwell Electric wanted Charles as their sales supervisor of Quality Control Specialist. After leaving Caldwell, Charles retired to his home at Holly Lake and then to Winnsboro, Texas.
Charles has had many acquisitions in his life. He is in the Whoâ??s Who of Texas for leadership in the Baseball Association of Dallas County for many years. He also completed many courses from Dale Carnegie, one being, â??Affective Speaking and Leadership Training and Human Relations.â? He has been all over the United States speaking at seminars.
One of the things Charles is especially proud of is his association with the masons. He has been a proud member of the R. C. Buckner Lodge #1176 for 65 years and is a master mason. Charles is a man of high integrity, meaning his word is his bond. Charles has five children: Patricia Darlene, Carol Ann, Martha Sue, Charles Terry and James Gary. He has been blessed with thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas. Family visitation will be held at 1-2 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow the service at Collinsville Cemetery in Collinsville, Texas.
