August 19, 1937 – March 20, 2014 Funeral services for Carol Ann King, 76, of Gainesville, Texas will be held Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Meador- Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bennie Slack officiating. Interment will follow the services at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas. Visitation will be Saturday, March 22, 2014, from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Mrs. King died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Gainesville Convalescent Center.She was born in 1937 in Gainesville, Texas, to Amos Carroll Evans and Elizabeth Ann (Springfield) Evans. She grew up attending Gainesville schools, including McMurray Elementary. She attended First Baptist Church and through the years helped run the Audio Visual room during the church services. She also helped in the church library and was active in WMU and Circle. She began teaching in 1959 in Era. She taught one year in Era and 3-4 grade in Muenster from 1960-1966. After moving to Gainesville in 1966 with Carl and the three children, Carol taught 2nd grade for several years and then entered the Special Education program and eventually became an Educational Diagnostician serving Cooke County.
She was active in Texas State Teacher’s Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Educational Diagnostician’s Society and Red Hat Society. She loved her family and friends and was loved by them so much. She touched so many lives through church and school and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by husband, Carl King of Gainesville; son, Craig King and wife, Stephanie Lee of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Carla Hogan and husband, James of Nixa, Missouri, and Crista Rosada and husband, Oscar of Gainesville, Texas; Granddaughters, Brooke Spencer of Edison, Maryland; Allison Larabee of Nixa, Missouri, Natalie King of Dallas, Texa, and Grandson, Devan King of Dallas, Texas; Sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Jerry Albert of Lawton, Oklahoma, and sister, Shirley Wicker of Gainesville, Texas, as well as, 8 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Elizabeth Evans.
Pallbearers will be Jon Wicker, Chris Wicker, Lanny Lyons, Johnny Leftwich, Milburn Cravens, and James Ray Polk. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Albert.
