January 3, 1937 – August 12, 2012 WHITESBORO Ă¢?? Carmelita McDaniel East, aged 75, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2012, in Whitesboro, Texas, with her family by her side. Carmelita was born January 3, 1937, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She completed college with a BachelorĂ¢??s Degree from the University of Tulsa, where she was a member of Chi Omega. In 1969, she and her family moved to Houston, Texas. Always choosing to see the beauty around her, Carmelita became very passionate about her art work and studied her oil painting techniques with many renowned artists over the years. Like her, all of her paintings are very uplifting and beautiful. In addition to her painting, she was also a school teacher and taught speech arts. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Throughout her life she was a Blue Bird Leader, 4-H Leader, pre-school teacher, and wedding planner. She and her late husband, Charles, were very active members of Holy Covenant Methodist Church in Katy, Texas. She will be so dearly missed! Her sunny disposition and positive outlook on life was and will remain a source of inspiration to her family and friends.
She is survived by daughter, Dawn Capps and husband, Kyle; daughter, Heather East; granddaughter, Lauren Bloomer and husband, Jeremy; great-grandson, Owen Bloomer; her nieces, nephew and friends.
Carmelita was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Charles Robert East; sister, Patricia Duncan; brother, David McDaniel; and parents, Herman Monroe McDaniel and Dora Kneeland McDaniel.
A Memorial Service of Remembrance will be held on August 17, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas. The family wishes to thank all of the many sweet caregivers at Whitesboro Health and Rehab; Home Hospice; Heart to Heart and Pecan Point Assisted Living, as well as friends from Holy Covenant Methodist Church of Katy, Texas.
