February 6, 1924 –  January 27, 2009  WHITESBORO รข?? Graveside Services for Carl Gravette, 84, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 at the funeral home.
Carl passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 at the Whitesboro Health & Rehab. Center.

He was born on Feb. 6, 1924 in Sadler, Texas to Dewey William Gravette and Nettie Mae (Bullard) Gravette. Carl served as a medic in the U.S. Army during WW II in the European and American Theaters, earning a Purple Heart and 3 Bronze Stars. He married Mary Frances Cardwell on Dec. 6, 1947 in Gainesville, Texas. Carl lived in Grayson County his whole life and retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Sherman. He loved cattle ranching and farming, was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Gravette of Whitesboro, a son, Eddie Gravette of Whitesboro, 2 daughters, Brenda C. Spence of Whitesboro and Ann Brinkley and husband Jim of Whitesboro, 2 sisters, Lola Mae Hawkins of Whitesboro and June Imogene Trisler of Sherman, a brother, Bobby Frank Gravette of Whitesboro, 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Nettie Gravette and a sister, Geraldine Lovett.
