May 19, 1918 –  February 23, 2011  Callisburg resident C.Y. Powell, 92, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at North Texas Medical Center. He was born May 29, 1918 in Mount Ida, Arkansas to John B. Little and Chrisse (Wright) Powell. C.Y. married Jennie Powell in January 1955. Mr. Powell served in the US Army during WWII. He was a foreman with the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring after thirty-three years. Following his retirement C.Y. drove a bus for Callisburg ISD for thirteen years and was a cattle rancher. He was a member of Vilott Baptist Church.
Funeral services for C.Y. Powell are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 28th at Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Roslyn Eugster, Pastor of Mission United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in New Resthaven Cemetery. Friends and family members will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Clement-Keel Funeral Home.

Survivors of C.Y. Powell include son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Michelle Powell of Callisburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Junior McLaughlin of Thackerville and Virginia Ruth and Gary Waters of Newark, Ohio; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean â??Jennieâ? Powell in 2010; daughter, Yualene Gleason; grandson, Colton Powell; brother, Lloyd Lee Powell and sisters, Ena Ruth Carroll and Sonny Smith.
