Buddy Leon Mauldin, 89, of Gainesville, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 17, 2020.  He slipped away peacefully with his daughter holding his hand.

Leon was born on September 21, 1931 in Lubbock, Texas, to William Howard and Mable Augustas (Jones) Mauldin.  He loved horses and broke many to ride.  Leon was of the Baptist faith.  He enjoyed gardening and making big meringue pies at JK’s drive-in.  He worked at the Sportatorium in Wichita Falls, 27 years at Linda Jo Shoe Company and 15 years at Valenite in Gainesville.   Leon was a quiet man and loved everyone, he doted on his daughter and grandchildren, he loved his wife of 69 years, they were his life.  He always told everybody to be sweet.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Mauldin of Gainesville; daughter, Debbie Campbell and husband, Fred of Gainesville; grandchildren, Bryan Campbell of Dallas; and Lacey Reed and Significant other, Jason Cochran of Collinsville; sisters, Dolly Boyd of Gainesville; Linda Matthews of Meridian; great-grandchildren, Garrett Reed, Haden Reed and Airyana, Brody and Presley Crynes; bonus great-grandchildren, Sydnie and Kaleigh Cochran; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mabel Mauldin, brother, Howard Mauldin, sister, Ruth Hoover, sister, Rosemary Middleton, sister, Dorothy Woolderink, brother, Larry Mauldin, brother, Harry Mauldin, and sister Helen Mauldin.

Pallbearers will be Fred Campbell, Bryan Campbell, Garrett Reed, Haden Reed, Rex Russell, and Doug Heffley.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Cochran and Brody Crynes.

In lieu of flowers the family request honorariums be made in his name to Hospice Plus at 100 W. Lamberth Rd. Sherman, TX 75092.

Funeral services honoring Leon will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. Tony Norman.  Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery in Gainesville.  A time of visitation will be held for friends and family from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the funeral home.
