July 24, 1932 – May 28, 2012 Bobby Joe Marten, 79, of Sanger, formerly of Gainesville, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at Denton Regional Hospital. Bobby was born July 24,1932 in Electra Texas to Bob and Minnie (McGinty) Marten. He married Betty Sue Lewis July 6, 1956 in Spring Creek, Texas. Bobby was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad as a switchman and brakeman before retiring. He was a member of the Ex Rails Club and Central Baptist Church, Denton. He loved working on old and classic cars.
Funeral services for Mr. Marten will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30th at Meador-Clement-Keel Chapel with Rev. Paul Shelton, Pastor of Central Baptist Church Denton officiating. Interment will follow in Valley View Cemetery. Franklin (Skeeter) Wallace, Larry Lewis, Bobby Duvak, Gary Lee Duvak, Joe Roberts and John Smith will be pallbearers. Family visitation for Mr. Marten will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors of Bobby Marten include his wife, Betty Marten of Sanger; sons, Glen Allen Marten of Sanger, Kenneth Wayne Marten of Sanger ad Curtis Lee Marten of Sanger; grandsons; Zachary Jace Marten of Denton, Garrett Marten of Sanger and Joseph Marten of Sanger; granddaughter, Madison Marten of Sanger and sister, Ruth Ann Duvak of Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Doskey Doris Hawkins.
