September 14, 1930 –  November 14, 2014  Bob Hughes passed away at his residence in Gainesville Friday, November 14, 2014 at the age of eighty-four. He was born in Gainesville, Texas September 14, 1930 to Joe B. and Rebecca (Mann) Hughes. Bob was a veteran of the US Air Force. He married Elizabeth Beck June 22, 1950 in Gainesville. He was employed by Mobil Oil as a geophysicist until retiring and was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.
Funeral services be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 17th at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville with David Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Jerry Wiginton, Jerry Gee, Jerry Stailey, Joe Roberts, Al Hill and Steve Bailey will serve as pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be Bob Scott, Grant Krahl and Bill Sluder. Family visitation will be 4:00 – 5:00 Sunday at the funeral home.

Bob Hughes is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hughes of Gainesville; daughter, Barbara Bryant of Tempe, AZ; sons, David Hughes and wife, Susan of Gainesville and John Hughes of Gainesville; sister, Joyce Roberts of Frisco; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Peggy Lemons and brother, Bill Hughes.
