September 27, 1935 –  February 1, 2016  Funeral Services for Billy Reed (Bill) Lawson, 80, of Collinsville will be held Friday, February 5, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Collinsville with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Assisting will be Rev. Mike Flannagan, Chief Lawson and Mark Lawson. Interment will be later at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie, Texas. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel. He passed away February 1, 2016, in Pilot Point, Texas. He was born September 27, 1935, in Marietta, Oklahoma. He married Dorothy (Dot) Jeanette Jones on June 10, 1961. After serving his country in the Air Force, Bill worked for three major aircraft companies, General Dynamics, Lockheed, and Boeing. While at Lockheed, he wrote the specifications for the giant transport aircraft, the C-5A. After he retired from the aircraft industry in 1999, and Dot retired from secretary to the Police Chief in Flower Mound, they moved to Collinsville, joined First Baptist Church and he became a deacon and Sunday School teacher. His hobbies included sports, golf, and fishing. During his later years, he became an avid trout fisherman. He seldom missed a high school football or basketball game in Lewisville or Collinsville. His favorite place to be was anywhere his grandkids were. He was proud of each of them. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Collinsville; son, Scott Lawson and wife, Tonya of Chandler, Arizona; daughter, Lara Bennett and husband, Tim of Collinsville; brother, L. E. and wife, Sue of Lucas, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Kyle Lawson, Cole Bennett, Zack Lawson, Taylor Bennett and Maci Bennett and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Eual and Audra Lawson and brother, Frank Lawson.
