Billy Merle Wilson, 87, of Whitesboro, Texas, was called to his eternal home in heaven on June 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born on August 20, 1937 in Gainesville, Texas to Alvie and Naomi Juanita (Yoakum) Wilson.  He graduated from Callisburg High School and the University of North Texas.  On June 28, 1955 he married his beautiful wife, Linda Phelps, in Whitesboro, Texas. Bill loved spending time with his family. He loved watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports, coaching sports and hunting and fishing with Russ and Blake.  Bill had a passion for following Christ, and he lived by example to his family, his professional associates, and his friends.  As an engineer for Johnson and Johnson and as a custom home builder, his mission was quality improvement.  He applied these principles to living for Christ by teaching Sunday school and singing in gospel quartets.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Russ Wilson and wife, Kathy of Whitesboro; daughter, Debbie McNees and husband, David of Whitesboro; granddaughter, Brooke Wilson of Dallas; grandson, Blake Wilson and wife, Kayla of Gunter; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Allie, and Chloe Wilson, sister, Nita Ramsey of Woodbine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Kathy Wilson; parents, Alvie and Naomi Wilson; and brother, Graydon Wilson.

Funeral services honoring Bill will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 16, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Whitesboro, officiated by Bro. Jackie Mitchell. Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Sandusky.  A time of visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 16, 2025 at the church.
