January 22, 1938 – December 9, 2017 WHITESBORO – Billy G. Maddux, 79, passed away on Dec. 9, 2017 at the Whitesboro Health and Rehab Center in Whitesboro, Texas after a long and painful illness. Memorial graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017 at the Holland Cemetery in Holland, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen; three daughters, Jeanne and her husband, Matt Whitmire of Whitesboro, Barbara Schilling of Whitesboro, and Diana Page of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Ann and husband, Jerry Berg of Harker Heights, Texas; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Maddux of Belton, Texas; 6 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Granville and Annie (Gruening) Maddux; step-mother, Billie Maddux of Holland, Texas; and two brothers, Preston Maddux of Holland, Texas and Glen Maddux of Belton, Texas.
He was a member of the North Union Street Church of Christ in Whitesboro and was a longtime member of the Ave. T Church of Christ in Temple, Texas where he served as an elder, deacon, youth minister, and minister of the elderly. He was a longtime barber, owning two barber shops and managed the largest barber shop in the Southwest part of Houston for 19 years. Billy also owned and operated a bar-b-que restaurant in Bell County, Texas for 10 years. He loved to fish and play golf, where he won many trophies.
