May 9, 1931 –  July 16, 2015  Funeral services for Billie Patsy “Pat” (Brown) Hayes, 84, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Family visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, 2015 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hayes passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Texoma Healthcare Center in Sherman, Texas.

Pat was born on May 9, 1931 in Sherman, Texas to William “Bill” Patrick and Alice Katherine (Bryant) Brown. She married Edwin “Ed” D. Hayes on September 9, 1951 in Sherman, Texas. Pat came from a family of educators. She received a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education degree from North Texas State University. She taught high school English for two years in Southmayd before beginning her 25-year tenure in Whitesboro, where she taught eighth-grade English and Reading, first grade, then fifth grade.

Pat was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitesboro since 1951 and faithfully served throughout the years as a GA leader, Sunday school teacher and Vacation Bible School director. She was a Girl Scout leader during her daughter’s years of involvement and was a member of Chapter A, P.E.O.

She enjoyed camping with her husband in their RV throughout their marriage, quilting, reading, playing games and she enjoyed being around friends, family and going out to eat. Pat loved and supported her family up to the moment she went to be with the Lord. She loved spending time with her grandchildren also, doing many of the activities that she and Ed had enjoyed such as camping, playing cards, swimming, going to the movies and catching up on their lives. Pat was a huge Christian influence and valued God, family and education. She lovingly passed on those values to her daughters, and all three became educators.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Jane Belcher and husband, Donald of Sherman, Luanne Moore and husband, Charles of Montgomery and Susan Hall and husband Murry of Arlington; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Hayes of Whitesboro; Niece, Diane Gibson of Sherman; nephew, Bill Hayes of Whitesboro; cousin, Bob Gibson of Sherman and a host of friends.

Pat was proceeded in death by her parents, Bill and Alice Brown; husband, Ed Hayes; nephew, Jim Hayes and brother-in-law, J.W. “Dub” Hayes.

Pallbearers will be; Adam Moore, Andy Hall, Luke Hall, Matt Wilcox, Randy Biddlecome, Chris Mullendore and Will Cheek.
