October 3, 2016 –  January 23, 2017  “Big Red” Donald Bruce (79) passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 at his residence in Oak Ridge. He was born October 3, 1937 in Love County, Oklahoma to Lawrence and Gracie (Hughes) Bruce. He married Barbara Murphy on March 10, 1962. He served in the US Army. “Big Red” loved playing his guitar, singing Country Music and loved his family. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26th at the Rosston Cemetery in Rosston, Texas with Rev. Jerry Huggins officiating. Family visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 25th at Meador Funeral Home in Gainesville.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bruce of Oak Ridge; 4 sons, Tim & Harriett Bruce of Gainesville, Gary Don Bruce of Gainesville, Michael Patrick & Kim Bruce of Gainesville and Matthew Ray Bruce of Gainesville; 1 daughter, Debra & Larry Beasley of Bowie, Texas 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Vera Mae Thorton of Gainesville and Barbara Blevins of Pensacola, Florida; 1 brother, Herman Dale & Virginia Bruce of Marietta, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers.
