Bertha Jane Bartlett, 94, of Gainesville, passed away on June 28, 2019. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, 10:00 am, July 2, 2019, at New Resthaven Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas.  Mr. David Beck was the officiant.

Bertha was born on December 13, 1924, in Hood, Cooke County, Texas, to Richard Lawson and Esta Lee Welch Lawson.  She married Art Jessie Bartlett on July 26, 1943, in Gainesville, Texas.

Bertha loved to have a garden, so she could can vegetables and make pickles.  Due to her love for gardening, the family always had fresh vegetables in the summer.  She also raised chickens so the family enjoyed fresh eggs along with the vegetables.  But we cannot leave out that she always grew house plants to make the home just right for her family whom she dearly loved.

She had a great sense of humor that most likely added to her teaching of Sunday school and Bible school growing up in her Baptist faith.

She also loved to sewed and made most of their clothes growing up.  Ms. Bartlett was a sales clerk at JC Penny’s for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Arta Gail Morrison and husband Larry of Callisburg, Texas; son, Marty Bartlett and wife Karen of Lindsay, Texas; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Jones of Era, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband and granddaughter, Candi.
