Barbara Bland Murrell of Gainesville, Texas, passed away at TMC on October 16, 2019.  She was 82 years old.

Barbara is survived by sister, Collene Morrow and spouse, Wes of Farmersville, Texas; brother-in-law Bobby Tracy of Gainesville, Texas; brother, George Bland and spouse, Sharon of Madill, Oklahoma; sister, Jan Homer of Dallas, Texas; nieces, Toni Burwell, Cathy Sampson, Melanie Gibson, Jennifer Hickman, Rebekah Little, Sarah Emery and Candice Norman; nephews, Timothy Tracy, Joey Bland, Scott Bland, Justin Bland, Steve Courreges and James Bland, and many great and great-great nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Murrell; parents, Winifred and Collier Bland; sister, Julia Tracy; brother, Charles Bland; former spouse, Andrew Spisak and nephew, Buddy Mann.

Barbara was born on November 22, 1936, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Collier and Winifred Bland.  She was the oldest of her five siblings, Collene, Julia, Charles, George and Jan, often times filling the role of a mother to them.  She attended school and went on to work in many roles as an accountant.  Barbara shared many happy years of her life married to her partner, Andrew Spisak, until his passing in October of 2004.  Barbara found love again when she married her late husband, Herman Murrell in August, 2011.  Barbara and Herman enjoyed many good times together with their families, friends and in their churches.  To those who knew them well, it can be attested to how they were a living example of the kind of love that is spoken of in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8  To all who were lucky enough to cross their paths, that love poured over immensely into the lives of all they came into contact with.  Their dog, Ladybug, enjoyed this love immeasurably, and was one of the lights of their lives.

Barbara was an astounding woman who filled many of her days with hobbies such as: cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, gardening, reading scripture, attending church and ordering things online for those she loved.  Those who survive her will remember her as a loving aunt, sister, cousin, and mother figure; for she was truly a mother to all those who would embrace the gifts God bestowed upon her.

Visitation is scheduled for 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Meador Funeral Home, with a graveside service to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas; Pastor Arthur Green will be officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Barbara.

Pallbearers, Joey Bland, Tim Tracy, Christian Hensley, Grayson Hensley, Scott Bland and Justin Bland.
