July 27, 1924 –  August 7, 2010  Private funeral services for Gene Bannor Wolf, 86, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2010 at Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro with Derek Pfeifer officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.Gene passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Senior Care Center in Bridgeport.
He was born on July 27, 1924 in Avoca, Arkansas to Amos Bannor and Myrtle Alma (Goss) Wolf. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After the war, he worked for the Dallas Morning News. He married Patricia Lucille Hollon on Sept. 8, 1946 in Rockwall. He worked as a commercial artist for the Todd Co. (later Burrough’s Corp.) and held the position of International Director of Arts for them in Rochester, New York from 1953-61. He continued with Burrough’s from 1961-67 in Dallas. He resigned his position to become a preacher in 1967 and completed the Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, Texas in 1969. He completed studies at the N. Ireland Bible School in Belfast, N. Ireland in 1972. He served as a preacher in Bonham, Texas from 1972-1985. He also preached for Gordonville Church of Christ until his retirement. He had lived in Decatur from 2002 until present.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Teresa Powell of Decatur and Susan Harris and husband, Lonnie of Dale; 3 grandchildren, Trevor Powell, Jennifer Jaggers and Laura Townsend; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Iola Blevins, Frances Parkin and Lee Kirby; 2 brothers, Bob Wolf and George Goss; and a grandson, Kent Powell.
