October 11, 1945 –  May 19, 2016  Allen Lee Gates, 70, passed away on May 19, 2016 surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 23, 2016 at Meador Funeral Home.

Allen was born to Byron and Mary Gates on October 11, 1945 in Hastings, Nebraska. He was a husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family with all of his heart. He loved to fish, golf, and cheer on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He will be greatly missed by everyone. Our family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Pecan Tree Nursing Center and Solaris Hospice Care for taking such wonderful care of our loved one.

Allen is survived by his wife, Sue; daughter, Danielle Baltz and husband, Brian of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Sydonia Ramsey and husband Brad of Woodbine, TX; step children Dawn Owens and husband Bo of Fleming Island, FL; Veronika Mars and partner Mark Buckley of Green Cove Springs, FL; Neal Mars and wife Danie of Fleming Island, FL; grandchildren, Jordan Ramsey, Natasha Owens, Maddison Ramsey, Ciena Owens, Neal Mars III, Aerial Ward, Sydney Ward, Lexi McMinn, Anjuli Mars, Samantha Baltz, Melanie Baltz, Leila Mars, Cali Buckley; sisters and brothers, Pam Taylor and husband Doug and Jeff Gates and wife Gloria of Grand Island, NE; Jim Gates and wife Vicky; Shelley Richey and husband Johnny of Gainesville, TX; Melissa Wuthrich and husband Larry of San Antonio, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Byron and Mary Gates.
