Wanda Slayton Davis of Sherman passed to her heavenly home on Friday, May 21    at 9:00 PM.

Wanda was born on November 28, 1930 in Sadler, Texas to John W. Holley and Mary L. (Adams) Holley. She graduated from Sadler High School class of 1948.  On June 12th, 1948 she was married to Wayne Slayton at Sadler Baptist Church. Three children were born to this union:  Michael Slayton, Laura Hauser (deceased), and Steve Slayton of Dallas.  Wayne and Wanda had 40 years together before Wayne’s passing in 1988.  Lake Texoma was a big part of outdoor life, boating, waterskiing, and celebrating with their children and friends in the 50’s. They relocated to El Paso, Texas in 1961. They traded water sports for dune buggies. Most weekends were spent in the desert sand dunes looking for arrowheads and relics from Indian ruins. Wanda also spent time competing in Stock Car racing, driving her own stock car that was specially built for her. Church was always a main part of life. They were blessed to travel extensively with Wayne’s occupation in the 50’s and 60’s. Wanda was employed by JC Penny and Kessler Industries while residing in El Paso. They moved back to the Texoma area in 1986. Wanda was a member of Gordonville Baptist Church. She was a member of North Park Baptist Church in Sherman for the past 10 years.  She was a member of Auxiliary Post 2772 VFW, and a forty-year member of OES and the Red Hat Society (Chaplain). She volunteered over 1300 hours with the Bonham VA. Wanda remarried on May 28, 1994 to James (Jim) Davis. They were married 20 years until Jim’s passing in 2014.  Wanda loved working in her yard and flower beds. She was blessed with a host of friends and neighbors.
