January 21, 1918 –  March 18, 2007  WHITESBORO â?? Funeral Services for Virginia Finch Scott, 89, will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro with Dr. Roy Spore officiating. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 P.M. Monday, March 19, 2007 at the funeral home. A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, Mississippi.
Mrs. Scott passed away Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.

Virginia was born on January 21, 1918 in McComb, Mississippi to Thomas J. and Virginia (Martin) Finch. She married Ennette Hayman Scott on August 9, 1936 in McComb, Mississippi. Virginia was a member of the History Club, Modern Arts Club, The First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro, serving in the Chancel Choir, United Methodist Women, and was a long time member of the Grail Sunday School Class. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a seven time Worthy Matron. Prior to coming to Whitesboro, she organized a program for exceptional children. She was a local PTA president and state officer in Louisiana. Virginia was instrumental in founding a rehabilitation center in Lafayette, Louisiana named after her son, The Johnny Scott Center. In 1961 Virginia and her husband purchased the Ben Franklin store in Whitesboro and operated it until 1975.

She is survived by a son, E.H. â??Netâ? Scott, Jr. and wife Venetia of Corsicana, Texas; a granddaughter, Toni Scott Reed and husband Joe of Dallas, Texas; a grandson, Lt. Commander James Scott and wife Moni of Omaha, Nebraska; four great-grandchildren, James Martin Scott, Madison Rosalee Scott, Jackson Scott Reed and Connor Joseph Reed; sixteen step â?? grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Craft of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Dr. Flora Cherry of New Orleans, Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ennette Hayman Scott; a son, John Thomas Scott; four brothers and a sister.

Members of Whitesboro Masonic Lodge #263 AF & AM will serve as pallbearers.

Members of the Grail Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
