November 8, 1921 –  February 2, 2016  Gainesville resident Vernon Davenport Taylor, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Denton Regional Hospital at the age of ninety-four. He was born in Thackerville, Oklahoma November 8, 1921 to John and Ona (McCracken) Taylor. Vernon was employed in the oil industry before retiring and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6th at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville with Dr. Bennie Slack officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Kent Hildebrand, Larry Taylor, Randy Taylor and Dr. Jim Anderson will be serving as pallbearers. David Weems and Eddie Henry will be honorary bearers.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Byron and Sherryl Taylor of Gainesville; grandchildren, Larry Taylor and wife, Anita, Rachel Clark and husband, Daniel, Randy Taylor and Amanda Taylor; sister, Theresa Hildebrand, niece Kay Hildebrand and nephew Kent Hildebrand. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie B. Sherrill and a son, Larry Taylor.
