January 30, 1984 – April 26, 2013 GAINESVILLE – Funeral Services for Trey Bourquin, 29, will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church in Gainesville, with Dr. Eddie Chennault officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Boone, Luke Williams, Josh Goldsmith, Ryan Gullett, Kyle Gullett, Jared Gullett and Josh Burrus. Those serving as honorary bearers will be Robert Boone, Brent Hollandsworth, Frank Westbury, Charles Draper, Butch Stone, Ronnie Stevens, David Nelson, Don Martin, Coach Hosea Lee, Tim Whitley and “The Goober Men”. Services are under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home in Gainesville. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church.
Trey passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013 at U.T. Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, surrounded by his family.
Trey was born on January 30, 1984 in Gainesville to John Edgar Bourquin, II and Tammy Jean (Gullett) Bourquin. Trey was a remarkable individual who, in spite of his physical limits, had a great attitude and a wonderful sense of humor. He was a 2003 graduate of Gainesville High School, and served as manager for the 2002 Gainesville State Champion Basketball Team. He attended North Central Texas College in Gainesville. Trey bled “burnt orange” and treasured his beloved University of Texas Longhorns. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, with Tony Stewart and Danica Patrick being his favorite drivers. A fan of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and camping. “Swamp People” and “Duck Dynasty” were his favorite television shows; Trey actually got to meet Si and Miss Kay. He named his baby sister, who he dearly loved, Holly Nan Bourquin. He loved working for GNB Bank in Gainesville as a clerk. When his health would no longer permit him to work, he became a “stay at home son”. Most importantly, Trey trusted in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Trey was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He no longer needs a wheelchair and is not walking, but “running” the streets of gold, awaiting the arrival of all who are left behind to join him at a later date.
Survivors include his parents, John and Tammy Bourquin of Gainesville; his sister, Holly Bourquin of Gainesville; maternal grandfather, Ray Gullett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; paternal grandparents, John and Wanda Bourquin of Purcell, Oklahoma; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Quita Gullett; and an uncle, Donnie Bourquin.
