May 31, 1929 –  March 30, 2011  SHERMAN – Funeral Services for Tommy Joe Waggoner, 81, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Three Cross Cowboy Church in Sadler, TX with Rev. Sam Moore and Rev. Lynn Qualm officiating. Interment will follow in the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11:15 a.m. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the funeral home.He was born on May 31, 1929 in Scott, Arkansas to William Tolbert Waggoner and Virgie (Redd) Waggoner. He served in the U.S. Army and Air Force, ending his career as a Master Sgt. He was a Korean Conflict Veteran, earning the Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He married Joy Franklin on June 14, 1974 in Mississippi and was an electrician by trade.
Survivors include his wife, Joy Waggoner of Sherman; 2 daughters, Doris Helean (Michael) of New Braunfels and Sarah Sanchez (Tony) of Oklahoma City, OK; 2 sons, Perry Joe Waggoner of Albuquerque, NM and John Waggoner of Cuba, New Mexico; a sister, Louise Howard of Achille, OK; 5 brothers, John Waggoner of Moore, OK, Jim Waggoner of Hartshorne, OK, William Waggoner of Atoka, OK, Bill Waggoner of Finley, TN and Robert Towry of Bucklin, KS; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; niece and nephew, David and Marla Waggoner; special friends, Larry and Sylvia Carter; and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Thomas and Sammy Waggoner; and 3 brothers, Bobby, Fred and Dale Waggoner.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions are requested to the Three Cross Cowboy Church or Heart to Heart Hospice in Sherman, TX.
